Long Distance -->
I felt like I made a subtle dive into the eclectic with this one, falling back on organic ways of recording and writing material. The ten song compilation is basically a synthesis of the best ideas and takes of a larger body of work, that went through many stages. The concept "Long Distance" came after writing a collection of songs entitled that very phrase. After I was sold on this idea for an album title, I essentially wrote in that scope for a few weeks and eventually disbanded the project. Some time later I began writing for "another album" and probably went through this process three or four times. By the end of it all, I realized I had a lot of strong work and it all fit the original concept. The concept grew stronger because of the nature of what it means. Not only was I writing stories about "Long Distance", the tracks themselves were written and recorded over such a distance. In the end, it didn't quite feel like a DUKE>>n album, it felt like Nick..
I think of Subspace as the second disc to "Long Distance". These tracks were written and recorded during the Long Distance Sessions and didn't really fit in the original ten. They sustain a new life ordered together and with some different production angles, make up what is the Subspace..
Thank you to all who listen and relate to my music..
