Garden was written with an old batch of songs from earlier in the year and was recorded at the outdoor classroom at SSU. This is the only version of the song I have recorded and was done in one take with the vocals and guitar together. Garden almost did not make the album.
lyrics
Back from the garden where I learned to speak
I don’t suppose that you wanted to meet me there
With ribbons in your hair, it won’t be the same if you’re down and sustain your despair, it’s not fair
Back from the Sunday when I went away
We’re in a space that was marked and arranged by the waste
Of every other kid and every other lover
They’re all on a mountain of luck, I’ve got me a bed side fuss
Climbing out of this town I’ve had enough
Give me a bill to catch this train into the hills
Where I can run away, and I can find the day, that’s all I ever wanted, if you just needed to know
And I won’t pretend, I won’t pretend, no more
The space in between is all I’ve seen and all I’ll ever know
If I don’t get out of this town..
