Slowing Down was written and recorded separately from the other tracks, and mixed/mastered with the bunch. When I wrote it, I intended it to be the opener of some album or compilation, but this was way before "Petrified Hitchcock" even existed. The whole recording process took place in my apartment room in Danville, CA. The ending of the track has a conversation between Brian Martinez, Scott Kirkwood, and myself during the week I spent in Santa Rosa, finishing and realizing "Petrified Hitchcock". We're talking about old videos and recordings we have from our college years at Sonoma State University.
lyrics
Slowing down, lost my breath somehow
A feeble force punches through the morning clouds
I wanna get out, I wanna get out, of this town, I wanna get out
I’m sick of being useless, I don’t wanna fall apart
Living on a fever of senseless lust and stars
Slowing down, a girl I know is found
She’s been there sitting on a train
Waiting for the future and trying to arrange
Her way out, she can’t hear a sound
All she really knows is she wants to get out
She wants to get out, of this town, she wants get out
I’m sick of being useless, I don’t wanna fall apart
Living on a fever of senseless lust and stars
I don’t wanna let down, I don’t wanna close you out
So make believe that you and I will see each other around
I don’t wanna let down, I don’t wanna close you out
So put down your phone and love me like you love yourself..
Try to implode, try to explode, fade it out again..
